Tüftler. Schaffer. Weltmarktführer. 150 Jahre Verpackungsmaschinenbau in Südwestdeutschland

Press release

Inventors. Doers. World Market Leaders. 150 years of
the Exemplary Industry of Packaging Machinery.

Since 1861, an industry has been developing in Württemberg whose products ultimately everyone encounters: the packaging machine industry. On the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the first company founding, a book has been created that traces the success story of this industry, profiling more than 80 companies over 300 pages.

In the regions surrounding Schwäbisch Hall, Crailsheim, Waiblingen and the district of Rems-Murr, this dynamic industry has brought forth an extraordinary number of special-purpose mechanical engineering and supplier companies unparalleled in the world today. Several of these companies today are industry market leaders, such as Bosch Packaging Technology, OPTIMA GROUP or the Hansen Group.

Based on the portraits of exceptional industry pioneers and the lively presentation of historical developments, the book’s authors Peter Tognotti and Rudolf Büchner paint a striking picture in 15 chapters of an industry whose main players usually stand in the background. They tell the stories of the influence of packaging on the development of today’s consumer worlds - from the old mom and pop shops to today’s discount stores.

With this anniversary book, Packaging Excellence Center (Waiblingen) and Packaging Valley Germany (Schwäbisch Hall) have paid tribute to their packaging machinery region as collaborative publishers. „Inventors. Doers. World Market Leaders. 150 Years of Packaging Machinery in Southwest Germany“ will appear at the industry trade show interpack 2011, in German and English.
